Who can file a Domestic Violence case?

Any woman who is or has been in a domestic relationship with the respondent can file a complaint under the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005. This includes a wife, mother, daughter, sister, widow, or a woman in a relationship in the nature of marriage (live-in relationship), provided she has lived in a shared household with the respondent. A complaint can also be filed even if the woman is no longer living with the respondent.
