What is a Protection Order?
A Protection Order, issued under Section 18 of the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005, is a court order that restrains the respondent from committing or repeating acts of domestic violence. Depending on the circumstances, the Magistrate may prohibit the respondent from contacting, threatening, harassing, communicating with, or interfering with the aggrieved woman and her rights.
