Does domestic violence include sexual abuse?

Yes. The Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act recognises sexual abuse as a form of domestic violence and allows an aggrieved woman to seek appropriate relief from the court.

Sexual abuse includes any conduct of a sexual nature that:

·      humiliates,

·      degrades,

·      or violates a woman's dignity.
