Does domestic violence include economic abuse?

Yes. Economic abuse is one of the forms of domestic violence recognised under the Act. It includes depriving a woman of financial resources, maintenance, household necessities, stridhan, or property she is legally entitled to. It also covers restricting her access to money, disposing of her assets without consent, or preventing her from earning a livelihood. Such acts can entitle an aggrieved woman to seek relief from the court.
